Ethiopia covers 1,104,300 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.8% of all land on Earth. It ranks 27th of 237 countries worldwide and 10th in Africa. At 9° latitude Mercator only inflates Ethiopia by about 2%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Ethiopia is roughly the same size as Bolivia (1,098,581 km²).
You could fit 3 of Germany inside Ethiopia.
