New World Size is a free, interactive Equal Earth projection map, the projection the United Nations adopted for its official world maps in 2026. Our goal is simple: let anyone see the world at its true size, and compare it against the old Mercator map that shaped how generations of people misjudged country sizes.
Country shapes come from Natural Earth (public domain). Every area shown on this site is a published country figure, the same totals Wikipedia lists for each country, so the numbers you read in the text are the numbers you find anywhere else. The map draws those same countries at their true relative size, so what you see and what you read agree. No accounts, no annoying ads, no tracking pixels, the map is the product.
Use the feedback panel on any map page (the envelope icon on the right). Every request gets a fix within 48 hours, and a reply if you leave your email.
