Sudan covers 1,878,000 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 1.4% of all land on Earth. It ranks 16th of 237 countries worldwide and 3rd in Africa. At 16° latitude Mercator only inflates Sudan by about 8%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Sudan is roughly the same size as Indonesia (1,904,569 km²).
You could fit 3 of Ukraine inside Sudan.
