Somalia covers 637,657 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.5% of all land on Earth. It ranks 44th of 237 countries worldwide and 19th in Africa. At 5° latitude Mercator only inflates Somalia by about 1%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Somalia is roughly the same size as France (643,801 km²).
You could fit 3 of Tunisia inside Somalia.
