Sierra Leone covers 72,300 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.1% of all land on Earth. It ranks 120th of 237 countries worldwide and 42nd in Africa. At 9° latitude Mercator only inflates Sierra Leone by about 2%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Sierra Leone is roughly the same size as Ireland (70,273 km²).
