Peru covers 1,285,216 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.9% of all land on Earth. It ranks 20th of 237 countries worldwide and 3rd in South America. At 9° latitude Mercator only inflates Peru by about 3%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Peru is roughly the same size as Chad (1,284,000 km²).
You could fit 3 of Paraguay inside Peru.
