Malawi covers 118,484 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.1% of all land on Earth. It ranks 101st of 237 countries worldwide and 38th in Africa. At 13° latitude Mercator only inflates Malawi by about 5%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Malawi is roughly the same size as Cuba (109,884 km²).
