Ecuador covers 283,561 km² on the new Equal Earth world map, 0.2% of all land on Earth. It ranks 74th of 237 countries worldwide and 9th in South America. At 1° latitude Mercator only inflates Ecuador by about 0.06%, so the old and new maps largely agree on it, unlike the far north where Mercator's stretch is dramatic.
For scale, Ecuador is roughly the same size as New Zealand (268,838 km²).
You could fit 3 of Hungary inside Ecuador.
